About 2nd Hand Wardrobe Week
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AS OF DECEMBER 2013 BY ITS ORGINATOR. Not everyone can afford brand new clothes, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t dress in style. Secondhand wardrobe week occurs during the week leading up to the Oscars each year. It used to have a website: www.secondhandwardrobe.com, but that seems to have disappeared. Whether this event is continuing, we’re not sure. We’ve been unable to confirm that.

The purpose of the week, however, is important. It’s about helping build self-esteem with people through wardrobe and removing the stigma of shopping at a thrift shop for clothing. It’s about helping people look good and feel good, no matter what their income or from where they buy.

Custom Textile designer Cheryl Gorn started the event originally as a one day promotion in August. Later it was moved to the week before the Oscars(R), which tends to focus on very expensive high fashion and what people wear. Whether Ms. Gorn continues to sponsor this event is yet to be seen. The purpose of it however, is noble.
