About National Digestive Motility Awareness Month
Digestive Motility Awareness Month in August is a proclamation by the Governor of Massachusetts and runs in tandem with the National Digestive Tract Paralysis Awareness Month. The purpose of Digestive Motility Awareness Month is to educate the healthcare community , patients and the general public regarding the serious nature of digestive motility diseases and disorders. Currently 20 to 30 percent of North American population experiences bothersome upper or lower digestive tract motility disturbances on a chronic basis. International Digestive Motility Awareness Month is in May (Also Digestive Disease Month) and some states choose May rather than August for their awareness campaigns.
