About Text Your Neighbor Month

National Text Your Neighbor Month is an unofficial observance during the Month of March, which on the surface may seem silly. There is no sponsor. However in Colorado they use this month to encourage people to get to know their neighbors and create a text contact list of neighbors for emergencies, whether a missing child, neighborhood watch, natural disaster coordination, recommend babysitters or for something fun like a street party. Taken in that context, this month is actually a really good idea. So rather than think of it as a silly observance with no origin, National Text Your Neighbor Month could be a great excuse to meet your neighbors and create the 21st century version of a phone tree. You never know when you might need it.
