About Dia Del Turista in Mexico
The first day of spring annually is Dia Del Turista in Mexico and is celebrated predominantly in the northern cities and towns bordering the United States. It’s a day for the vendors in Mexico to thank the snowbirds who come down during the winter months through specials and free gifts including miniature sombrero pins.
The event originated in Nuevo Progreso in the late 1970s. It continues to be a much anticipated event, especially in Southwestern Texas each year.
