About Akshaya Tritiya in the Hindu Faith
Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej, is a holy day for Hindus and Jains and is one of the four most important religious days for Hindus. It marks the birthday of Lord Parasurama, the 6th incarnation Lord Vishnu. Worshipping on this day is believed to good luck and success through charity work. In other words, what goes around, comes around. It is also a day that is believed blessed with wealth and ideal for the starting of new ventures, especially business, as anything begun on this day it is believed will prosper and grow. This day is all about non-declining wealth and auspicious growth.
As with religious holidays in other faiths, Akshaya Tritiya has taken on a commercial relevance with gifts of jewelry highly sought.
Hindu mythology states this is the day Treta Yuga began and the river Ganges, the most sacred river of India, descended to the earth from the heaven. It is also the day marking the commencement of the Hindu religious text Mahabharata to Ved Vyas's dictation.
Followers of the Jain religion reserve Akshaya Tritiiya as a holy and supremely auspicious day. It is associated with Lord Adinatha, the first of the twenty-four T?rthankaras.
