February is AMD and Low Vision Month
It begins in your 40s. Suddenly reading the messages on your cell phone becomes difficult and you find yourself reaching for reading glasses. Next, you begin to notice it’s not as much fun to drive at night. Suddenly it is much harder to see.
AMD (Age-related macular degeneration) is a leading cause of vision loss, affecting more than 2 million Americans age 50 and older. AMD Low Vision Month is set aside each year in February to bring awareness to the affects and dangers associated with vision loss as we age. Programs focus on promoting ow vision aids can make the most of remaining vision and supply information on eye disease warning signs and treatment will be available.
