About March Madness

March Madness is the NCAA collegiate basketball playoffs and championship featuring one team from each of the regional championships: East, South, Midwest and West regions. The Final Four is the playoff championships to determine which two teams will ultimately face each other for the Championship game in April in both the men and women’s basketball programs. Today is the day the first round begins. There are two. This series of games is also known as “March Madness”.

The tournament, which currently features 68 teams in 4 brackets was created in 1939 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Originally it was the idea of Ohio State University coach Harold Olsen."
