About the National Day of Reason
The National Day of Reason was created in 2003 as a counter to the National Day of Prayer. It is celebrated by secularists, humanists, atheists, others whom do not believe in God, gods or religion as well as those who want a pure separation between church and state. It is celebrated on the first Thursday in May of every year coinciding with the National Day of Prayer. The day is marked with food drives, blood drives rallies and protests against state supported prayer.
