About International Pashtun Jirga Day
Pashtun Jirga Day International marks the beginning a conference (jirga) of tribal elders. Each year the tribal leaders in the Pashtun regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan come together for a four day assembly to make decisions for all the tribes through consensus for the upcoming year. Today is the date this year’s jirga begins for domestic issues. We were unable to find videos on this custom but a loya or peace jirga was called in the fall of 2013 and that history is included.
