PEPPERMINT PATTY DAY (1940)
About Peppermint Patty Day
If you've ever needed an excuse to eat chocolate and peppermint, today you have it. It was in 1940 that Henry C. Kessler first sold the peppermint cream covered in dark chocolate patty named after the city, York, Pennsylvania where he lived. It remained a regional treat until 1972 when Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company purchased Kessler's company and took the product national in 1975.In 1978, Peter Paul merged with Cadbury, which was acquired by Hershey in 1988.
