About the Six Nation's Rugby Tournament
Each year Wales, Italy, France, England, Scotland and Ireland compete in the Six Nation’s Rugby Championship. It is the most prestigious Rugby competition in the world.
The teams play each other in 5 rounds. Two points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. There is no bonus point system.
A’Grand Slam' occurs when a team wins all five times it plays. Several times these have occurred in consecutive years:
Wales achieved back-to-back a Grand Slams in 1908 and 1909,
England in 1913 and 1914, 1923 and 1924 and 1991 and 1992
France in 1997 and 1998.
England leads with a total of Grand Slams won with 12. Wales has 11, France 9, Scotland 3 and Ireland 2.
The Six Nations Rugby Championship occurs in February and March of each year, with tournaments played on Saturday and Sundays for five consecutive weeks.
