Owing its origin to the NSA spying disclosures of whistleblower Edward Snowden, the defeat of SOPA and PIPA in 2012 and marking the 1 year anniversary of Aaron Schwartz's (Creative Commons and Internet Advocate who was being persecuted by the US Government for releasing thousands of documents from J-Store) suicide, The Day We Fight Back Against Mass Surveillance is a global protest directed at policy makers primarily in the United States. The goal is to contact legislators to oppose the FISA Improvements Act, support the USA Freedom Act, and enact protections for non-Americans.
