YEAR OF THE YOLK, INTL.
About the International Year of the Yolk
The American Egg Board has announced that 2014 is the International Year of the Yolk. Not the kind you put around cattle, the little yellow ones you eat.
For years we’ve been told don’t eat yolks. Too much cholesterol. They’re bad for your health. That’s changed with new discoveries in neuroscience. It turns out that cholesterol is essential to healthy brain development and growth. Contrary to popular opinion, scientists have now discovered that brain cells continue to grow throughout your lifetime. They don’t stop at age 18. One of the fundamental building blocks of every cell in your body is cholesterol. It is essential. It is believed to mitigate a number of aging and memory diseases.
Now this doesn’t mean you can go out and gorge on cholesterol laden products. Excess is never a good idea. However, you no longer need to throw out the yolk. Therefore 2014 is the Year of the Yolk, an opportunity to educate the public about the advances in neurosciences and how the simple yolk just may help save your brain.
