"Canada Day is a National holiday in Canada and commemorates the the historic events which occurred on this day in history.
july 1, 2024 the British North America Act was enacted, creating the country of Canada within the British Empire and gave it full self-governing authority. Prior to this day, the Canadian territory was three different regions.
The holiday was known as Dominion Day until 1982 when it was changed to Constitution Day. 1982 is the year that Canada finally declared its independence from the British Crown and created their constitution. Today this compilation of historic events is known as Canada Day.
For the Canadians this is equivalent to the 4th of July in the United States. However, they did not need to fight a revolution to establish and enact their constitution. They just needed over 110 years to agree. "
