About Road Safety Week in the UK

Road Safety Week is an event that highlights the devastation of road death and injury, and encourages everyone to take action to prevent this carnage. It’s all about people working together to raise awareness about road safety, promote responsible road use, and prevent the suffering that results from crashes and casualties.

Road Safety Week is coordinated by Brake, the road safety charity, in the UK and New Zealand, and by other agencies in a number of other countries. These events encourage everyone and anyone to get involved, and each year involve thousands of schools, colleges, employers, community groups, authorities and emergency services taking action to educate and campaign for safer streets.

Working in partnership with insurers RSA, Brake is developing this site to be used as a global resource for anyone interested in organizing a Road Safety Week in their own country, locality or organization. In summer 2014, this site will be expanded to share the experience of Brake and other Road Safety Week organizers and provide advice and tools to help others wanting to set up their own Road Safety Weeks. The aim is to encourage more Road Safety Weeks to spring up around the world during the UN’s Decade of Action for Road Safety.
